Lake Minnetonka Bright & Cozy Kitchen

Crisp, Clean, and Transitional in style…this Wayzata new build has it all!

Our designer, Amber, worked closely with the homeowners and custom home builder to design a kitchen space that functions for a busy family as well as entertaining family and friends. The home’s design had a lot of traditional details to consider, like wrapped beams on the ceiling that were integrated into the cabinetry’s crown moulding, columns built for support and for symmetry, and large casing and base moulding.  These elements are all incorporated into the kitchen cabinetry.

Pairing the soft white painted cabinets (a variation of Benjamin Moore’s “China White”) with a custom, stained rift white oak, makes for a lovely combo in this space. By adding in the stained elements to the island, dish display cabinet, and coffee bar shelf, the kitchen is warmed up in color tone and in texture. Our special stain formula was made to complement the white oak floors throughout the home.

Beautiful quartzite serves as the countertop and full height backsplash. Quartzite is a natural stone and should not be confused with quartz products such as Cambria or Silestone. Unlike quartz, which uses natural materials, but is man-made, quartzite is mined from the earth and cut into slabs. Also, unlike quartz, quartzite is a porous material and should be sealed just like you would marble or granite.

High end Subzero and Wolf appliances used in this project are integrated and paneled for an ultra built in feeling. Two dishwashers in the island and a walk-in pantry, with additional oven and microwave, really turn this kitchen into a workhorse on holidays and other special occasions. Polished nickel fixtures and cabinet hardware add a little touch of shine and class to really elevate the space to the next level.

This kitchen sits in the center of the home with a fantastic view of the backyard patio and pool. It’s a great spot to gather, pack kid lunches, and cook homemade meals on cool fall days. We enjoyed working on this project and love that the homeowners can enjoy their space for many years to come!
